Carrickfergus is a small historic coastal town in Northern Ireland. In the past Carrickfergus was rich with life and opportunity. However in recent time Carrickfereus has fallen into much disrepair. The Mid and East Antrim Council have proposals to regenerate the town into a lively coastal tourism destination. The aim of this project has been to create an intervention alongside North Street, to bring the community back together. There is much need for a community driven development in the heart of Carrickfergus based on research that has been done.

The site to this project is a large car-park just off of North Street that connects to Lancasterian Street on the south side. This is one of the largest car parks in the town centre and there are alternative places to park very close to town centre. This project should use the whole site, whilst taking into consideration neighbouring residential area, historic wall and active church.

Community Kitchen and Urban Garden:

The community kitchen and garden will present an opportunity for the community to learn about growing food as as Cooking and food nutrition. In the urban garden, I will need to properly analyse easy food production, taking into consideration climate and area needed for such infrastructures. There should also be a facility where the produce can be sold to the community This could be in the form of a shop, food bank or both.
